The Melbourne Academy is a dedicated program of professional development for early career academics that explores the ways in which one’s education, research and leadership are evaluated at the University.

Certificate in Small-Group Teaching (CSGT)

CSGT is a professional development program for those new to university teaching and those interested in solidifying their understanding of key principles and practices of effective teaching and learning.

Skilled Facilitators Program

This program is designed for small-group educators who completed the Certificate in Small-Group Teaching. It provides small-group educators with the opportunity to demonstrate and document their sound conceptual and practical understanding of facilitating effective small-group learning in higher education.

Mid career
Melbourne Teaching Certificate (MTC)

MTC is designed for staff who have an education-related aspect to their role, and requires participants to reflect on their current teaching practices. It is a cohort-based program completed across one semester.

Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (GCUT)

GCUT is an award course that combines research-based, theoretical seminars with practical exercises involving peer review and negotiated projects. It is offered part-time to complement participants’ current teaching practice and delivered online or in a mixed attendance mode.

Leading Educational Quality and Innovation program

The Leading Educational Quality and Innovation (LEQI) program provides a comprehensive overview of the University’s educational strategy, policies, systems, and governance structures. It is designed to equip participants with key knowledge and skills related to higher education management, quality assurance and leading change.

Melbourne Aspiring Leaders and Managers program

The Melbourne Aspiring Leaders and Managers (MALM) program is designed for new and aspiring managers (academic and professional) to develop their skills, knowledge and capacities to lead and manage effectively.
