Leading Educational Quality and Innovation
About

The Leading Educational Quality and Innovation (LEQI) program is designed for mid-career academic staff at the University of Melbourne who aspire to become educational leaders.
The program introduces participants key knowledge and skills related to higher education management, quality assurance and leading change. It provides an overview of the University’s educational strategy, policies, and governance structures. Participants will engage with various educational leaders and network with peers across the University.
Suitable for
The program is aimed at academic staff at Level C or D who are on continuing or fixed term contracts with at least five years of university teaching experience and evidence of sustained engagement with educational quality and innovation. Preference will be given to applicants who:
- are leading educational activities within the university currently
- have completed the Graduate Certificate in University Teaching, have an Advance HE Senior Fellowship, or hold an equivalent qualification (completion of these programs does not guarantee a place in the cohort)
Program structure
The program consists of three half-day workshops in June with education leaders from across the University, covering topics such as:
- Governance of Higher Education Quality and Standards
- University of Melbourne Education Strategy
- Educational Middle‑Management: Influencing Change and Impact without Authority
- Advance HE Fellowship Program Overview
- Leadership and Advocacy

Participants will have the opportunity to attend a key educational governance meeting (e.g. Academic Board and TALQAC). A networking event will be held around September for participants to re-connect and share what they have done with their plan of action. | |
