Joining the CSHE community

This page provides information about the fellows, associates and graduate researchers who are part of the CSHE community.

Graduate Researchers

The CSHE Graduate Researchers are completing graduate research (either a doctoral or master's project) or are undertaking a Doctor of Education degree and have a principal supervisor who is a CSHE staff member or Fellow. Graduate Researchers take an active role in the CSHE community, contributing to Centre events and symposiums. Graduate Researchers have access to Centre facilities, including a desk.

If you are interested in undertaking a research degree with the Centre, you can find more information here.

Graduate researchers from other universities interested in spending a semester with the Centre can submit an expression of interest here.

Visiting Scholars

The CSHE regularly hosts visiting scholars and can provide a workspace and the opportunity to participate in the Centre’s programs. Short visits can be arranged directly with the Centre, whereas longer stays will need to go through a formal process and apply to the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Education here.

Fellows

CSHE Fellows are prominent individuals who have an ongoing connection with the Centre’s work but are not staff of the University of Melbourne. They contribute to the Centre in various ways, including participating in and assisting in organising events, research collaborations and contributions to projects, graduate research supervision and teaching in our professional development programs.

Principles for becoming a Fellow

Decisions over whether to support an application are made by the Director after consultation with relevant CSHE staff and Faculty. Selection is based on:

  • Recognised expertise that aligns with the Centre’s programs and research,
  • Capacity to make a substantial contribution to the Centre’s work,
  • Ongoing relationship with the Centre or collaboration with a CSHE staff member, and
  • Meeting any formal Faculty or University requirements.

The length of Fellowship is based on the nature of the project or contribution.

CSHE Research Associates

CSHE Research Associates are invited University of Melbourne staff who have a significant collaboration with the Centre's staff on research projects into various aspects of higher education. The Centre recognises these ongoing contributions through these staff being invited to become Research Associates for a period of three years.

Principles for becoming an Associate

  • Recognised expertise that aligns with the Centre’s programs and research,
  • Capacity to make a substantial contribution to the Centre’s work,
  • Ongoing relationship with the Centre or collaboration with a CSHE staff member, and
  • Meeting any formal Faculty or University requirements.
