The Melbourne Academy

About

The Melbourne Academy provides early career academics with an overview of the key features of the profession. The program explores the ways in which one’s education, research and leadership are evaluated in the academy, considering how expectations might differ across disciplines, work focus categories, and levels. Across four half day sessions, you will be guided to investigate what counts as quality, impact and influence in your particular context, and identify a range of professional development opportunities that support your career aspirations.

Intended learning outcomes

Upon completion of the Melbourne Academy, you will be able to:

  • Identify the University’s expectations of academic staff in education, research and research training, and leadership and service
  • Articulate your current strengths, goals and developmental needs
  • Formulate a professional development plan

Participants who attend all sessions and complete the assessment will receive a certificate of participation.
