Professor Alistair Moffat has been a teaching and research academic at the University of Melbourne (School of Computing and Information Systems) since 1986.  In over three decades of teaching he has touched and maybe inspired something like 20,000 undergraduate students, and remains firmly committed to the excitement of the interactive classroom.  Alistair received a Carrick Citation for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in the inaugural round of these national awards in 2006, and has also received University and Faculty recognition.  Alistair is author of the textbook used in his C programming subjects, and also an author of two technical monographs and more than 200 refereed research papers.  Alistair served as Head of Department from 2007 to 2011, and as Associate Dean (Curriculum) in the Melbourne School of Engineering from 2007 to 2009.
