Graduate Researcher Orientation
About
The Graduate Researcher Orientation provides a welcome to PhD, Professional Doctorate, Masters by Research and MPhil candidates who are new to the University of Melbourne or a graduate research degree. A series of online Orientation sessions offers information on important issues such as thesis writing, graduate research advocacy, candidature administration, maintaining wellbeing and will introduce students to the research training and professional development opportunities available at the University of Melbourne.
Suitable for
PhD, Professional Doctorate, Masters by Research and MPhil candidates who are new to the University of Melbourne or a graduate research degree.
Program schedule
The Graduate Researcher Orientation is delivered three times a year as a series of four one-hour sessions. Most of the sessions are delivered online.

If you have recently joined the graduate research community at the University of Melbourne you can access recordings of the past Orientation sessions in the Grad Space community in Canvas. Grad Space is an online community for all graduate researchers currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne where you can find links to key research support services, optional professional development programs, and other opportunities available to graduate researchers at the University.
