Frederik commenced his career as an academic teacher at the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught subjects in Classics and Ancient History at the 1st and 4th year level (2003/2004). This was followed by a stint at Ghent University, Belgium, where he lectured in Roman social and political history at the graduate level from September 2004 to May 2007. Over the past eleven years, he has been teaching mostly Roman history at all levels, his flagship subjects being sweeping introductions into Roman republican and early imperial history, an era abounding with timeless lessons for contemporary society.
