Professor Hamish Coates

Project Details

This project to redesign redevelop Australia’s national Graduate Destination Survey (GDS), was led by Assoc Prof Hamish Coates in 2005. It was the first project of its scale undertaken since the inception of the survey in 1972.

The project involved statistical analysis of non-response and non-respondents, redesign of the instruments, development of a ‘survey engagement’ model, technical examination of a range of methodological matters, design of a new national administration model, and the development of processes for quality monitoring and control. The recommendations led to the adoption and development of a new national survey model.
