Teaching and Learning Summit 2022

The Teaching and Learning Summit was held on Wednesday 1 June 2022. This year the Summit shared ideas and experiences and lead a discussion on experiential and authentic learning, as well as developing practices that facilitate cultural diversity and inclusion in the curriculum.
The Summit offered an opportunity for us to explore how we can address contemporary issues in teaching and learning. It was also an opportunity for colleagues to share practices, discuss the challenges and offer strategies.

Keynote speaker
Professor Elizabeth Molloy
Department of Medical Education, Melbourne Medical School, The University of Melbourne
Liz Molloy is Professor of Work Integrated Learning in the School of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Liz’s work seeks to better understand how students learn through the clinical workplace, including how they seek and interpret cues within their contexts. Liz trained as a physiotherapist, and her interest in health professions education prompted her to return to the University of Melbourne to complete a PhD (2006) on feedback in clinical education. Liz’s research focuses on experiential learning, feedback and assessment, transitions, and interprofessional education. Liz received an inaugural Fellowship of ANZAHPE in 2015, and is Associate Editor of the journals Advances in Health Sciences Education and Focus on Health Professions Education. In 2019 Liz received a Karolinksa Fellowship Prize for Excellence in Research in Medical Education.

Professor Jamie Evans
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), The University of Melbourne
Jamie Evans is the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) at the University of Melbourne and Professor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. In his PVC role Jamie leads whole-of-University approaches to education programs and development in key areas of the Academic and Student Life portfolios. This includes leading the advancement of Discovery Subjects, Capstone Subjects, Breadth Subjects, Work-Integrated Learning programs, and Co-Curricular opportunities for students. His role also supports the professional development of academic staff and recognition of staff through awards and grants.
Professor Michael Wesley
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International), The University of Melbourne
Michael Wesley has extensive experience in international strategy and relations and has worked in higher education, government and the private sector. He has published on Australian foreign policy, Asia’s international relations and strategic affairs, and the politics of state-building interventions.
Previously, Professor Wesley was Professor of International Affairs and Dean of the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University, Director of the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs at ANU, the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy, Director of the Griffith Asia Institute at Griffith University, and Assistant Director-General for Transnational Issues at the Office of National Assessments. He has a PhD in International Relations from the University of St Andrews.
