The Three Minute Thesis competition – or 3MT® – is a hugely successful international competition that challenges PhD candidates to present their research to an intelligent, but non-specialist audience in just three minutes. And not a second more! It builds the capacity of graduate researchers to present an engaging and dynamic description of their research to the wider community, these days an absolutely essential skill.

Schools or Departments are encouraged to run their own local competitions before the University 3MT® season kicks off in June. This will help your PhDs with their communication and engagement skillset and will set them up for fame and fortune in the big competition.

This session will provide you with some useful tips and tricks for organising a local 3MT® and will help you to better understand the rules and judging criteria of the competition. If you are considering running your own competition or just looking for an interesting training/development opportunity, come along and hear how it all works.
