This curated website has been developed to provide academic staff with practical advice and strategies relating to the use of generative artificial intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT) for assessment and academic misconduct.
Assessment plays a crucial role in higher education, providing a means to evaluate students’ progress, measure or test their knowledge and skills, verify learning outcomes, and certify levels of achievement. However, issues of academic integrity related to contract cheating and the growing accessibility and capability of AI platforms (such as ChatGPT) threaten assessment integrity. While no assessment type is guaranteed to eliminate the risk of cheating, it is possible to design assessments that facilitate the development and measurement of higher order complex learning outcomes and which can reduce vulnerabilities to misuse of AI. This site provides advice, practical ideas and strategies for improving assessment design and integrity.
