Session by Academic Skills and University Library
This Upskills workshop, presented jointly by Academic Skills and the Library, is intended for students in the early stages of their M.Phil or PhD candidature. In this session we will investigate the reading, research and writing skills required for your thesis. The first part of the session will focus on techniques for critical reading and note-taking, followed by strategies for conducting research, navigating the world of academic literature and managing your sources. The second half will focus on writing. We will explore specific techniques for writing a clear and critical review of literature through the use of examples and practice activities. Participants are asked to bring a net-linked device (laptop, smartphone) and a 1-2 page printed sample of their Literature Review writing.
