The first year experience in Australian universities: Findings from a decade of national studies

Overview

This report delivers findings from the 2004 national survey of first year students and their attitudes and experiences as well as reporting on changes in these over the ten year period from when the first study was conducted (studies were undertaken at five year intervals - 1994, 1999 and 2004. 

This report represents a historical moment in first-year studies as at the date of release it was 50 years since the first survey of Australian first-year students was undertaken. The report concludes by providing strategic direction for policy-making at both national and institutional level as well as areas in which future research are necessary.
