National study of the work roles


This project will examine the changing character of academic work and explore the implications for the academic workforce of the future, the quality of teaching, research and community engagement.

The study will conduct an online survey of a stratified sample of Australian academics to document their current work roles and activities, what attracted them to academia, their career objectives and immediate intentions - including how long they forsee they will work in higher education and in Australian universities in particular - what factors contribute to their work satisfaction, commitment and personal decisions regarding continuing to work in the profession.
