This workshop combines all of our most popular Upskills sessions into a day that will help graduate researchers navigate the key landmarks of candidature. It is made up of two sessions, and you can choose to attend one or both.

The morning session will be particularly relevant to those starting out. You will hear about the importance of developing a professional and intellectual relationship with your supervisor and avoiding and dealing with problems, as well as what is required for the confirmation process.

The afternoon session will be of interest to graduate researchers at any stage of their candidature. You will hear about practical strategies for building your profile as an expert researcher in your field, and how, where, and when to publish your research strategically for both academic and non-academic audiences. The final sessions include a consideration of how to prepare for the examination process, and some thoughts on navigating the global academic workforce.

After the day closes there will be an opportunity to find out more about the Graduate Certificate of Advanced Learning and Leadership, a course for graduate researchers of the University of Melbourne aimed at building leadership and project management skills working with an engaged, cross-disciplinary cohort.
