Åsa Olsson

Ms Åsa Olsson is Program Director at the LH Martin Institute.

She has 10 years of international experience in the area of science and innovation policy, higher education leadership and management.

Prior to joining LH Martin Institute, Åsa worked for a number of international and governmental organisations, such as the OECD, the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and UNESCO.

Key achievements include:

  • Engagement with key policy actors that shape the global and national policy agendas in science and innovation. From 2012 to 2013, she managed seven high level meetings with more than 200 different individuals from 47 countries.
  • Implementation of the RHEDI Executive Training Course as a part of an academic award programme accredited by University of Melbourne with a cohort of 46 research leaders from Africa and South East Asia.
  • Publications with high visibility. In 2013, she managed the publication process of 31 reports of the OECD and contributed to two Special issues in Studies in Higher Education.

Åsa is a member of Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal Science Technology & Society, Sage Publications. She is also the editor of the RHEDI community site that is located at University World News.

Åsa´s current interests focus on comparative science and innovation policy, leadership and management with a particular focus on capacity development in emerging and developing countries.

Åsa also has six years of experience in the non-governmental sector. She was the programme manager of a youth leadership programmes in the Baltic Sea region and in the Balkans. She has also headed a portfolio of women´s empowerment projects in South Caucasus.
